Legendary Three Rivers College basketball coach Gene Bess dies at 91

POPLAR BLUFF, Mo., (KBSI) — Gene Bess, the longtime Three Rivers College basketball coach has died.

According to his son, Brian Bess, Gene Bess passed away early Friday morning, June 19. He was 91 years old.

Brian Bess announced his father’s death in a social media post and said funeral arrangements will be shared at a later date.

Bess spent decades leading the Three Rivers men’s basketball program in Poplar Bluff.
