Deadly tornado destroys homes in Jefferson County

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Mo., (WFCN) — A second person has died following a tornado that struck parts of Jefferson County on Sunday evening, according to Sheriff Jeff Bullard.

According to officials, at least three homes were destroyed, and numerous other structures sustained damage in the areas of North Tolle Lane, North Village Lane, North Stratford Lane and North Ranch Lane.

Emergency crews continue to assess the damage and assist affected residents.

Additional information regarding injuries, fatalities and damage assessments was not immediately available.

Authorities are urging residents to avoid damaged areas as recovery and cleanup efforts continue.
