State Rep. Dave Severin tours tornado damage in Jefferson County

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ill., (KBSI) — State Rep. Dave Severin visited northern Jefferson County on Monday to survey damage caused by a tornado that struck the area Sunday evening.

Severin said the storm caused significant damage to homes and property along its path and offered condolences to the families of those who lost their lives.

“Our office stands ready to help connect constituents to emergency services and charitable organizations that can provide assistance,” Severin said.

The tornado, which has been preliminarily rated an EF-3 by the National Weather Service, killed two people and injured five others while destroying at least three homes and damaging numerous structures across northeastern Jefferson County.

Severin also thanked first responders and emergency management personnel for their response efforts following the storm.
