CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — Cape Girardeau County residents have until June 30 to apply for newly approved property tax credit programs designed to provide relief for homeowners.

County officials announced applications are being accepted from May 21 through June 30 for two real estate property tax credit measures approved by voters during the April 7 election.

The programs include:

* **Proposition A** — Senior Citizen Property Tax Credit for primary residences under Senate Bills 190 and 756.
* **Proposition B** — Property Tax Credit on citizens’ primary residences under Senate Bill 3.

County officials said homeowners will use one streamlined application for both programs.

Applications and eligibility requirements are available online at capecounty.us/homestead.

Residents applying online must provide a valid email address to receive updates regarding their application status.

The tax relief measures are intended to help eligible homeowners limit increases in property taxes on their primary residences.
