JEFFERSON CITY, Mo., (KBSI) — The Missouri Department of Public Safety is urging residents to take precautions as an Extreme Heat Warning and Heat Advisory remain in effect across portions of the state through at least Thursday.
Officials encourage Missourians to stay hydrated by drinking water before they feel thirsty, avoid strenuous outdoor activities and prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, and check on older adults and other vulnerable individuals who may not have access to air conditioning.
The department said taking these precautions can help prevent heat-related illnesses during the prolonged stretch of dangerous temperatures.
