Paducah man charged with murder after fatal shooting on Jefferson Street

PADUCAH, Ky., (KBSI) — A Paducah man has been charged with murder after a fatal shooting Sunday night, according to the Paducah Police Department.

Officers responded at approximately 8:36 p.m. June 28 to the 2800 block of Jefferson Street after receiving reports of a fight between two individuals. Police said the altercation escalated into a shooting just before officers arrived.

Investigators identified the suspect as Peyton D. Boulton, 21, of Paducah, who was detained at the scene.

According to detectives, Boulton and Damareon Prather, 31, of Paducah, were involved in a physical altercation when Boulton allegedly shot Prather multiple times.

Prather was transported to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Boulton was arrested and booked into the McCracken County Regional Jail on one count of murder.

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Paducah Police Department or submit an anonymous tip through CrimeStoppers.

All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
