CARRIER MILLS, Ill. (KBSI) — A Murphysboro man is facing multiple charges after police say a woman suffered serious injuries during a domestic violence incident earlier this month.
According to the Carrier Mills Police Department, officers began investigating June 1 after a woman called from Harrisburg Medical Center, where she was being treated for a broken collarbone and multiple bruises. The woman identified her boyfriend, 21-year-old Kevin D. Hale, as the person who assaulted her.
Police said the victim also reported that Hale destroyed her cellphone by smashing it with a hammer during the incident.
Investigators completed the case and obtained an arrest warrant after Hale left the area.
On June 29, Hale turned himself in at the Saline County Jail on the outstanding warrant. He is being held without bond.
Hale is charged with felony aggravated battery, domestic battery and criminal damage to property.
The charges are allegations, and Hale is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
