JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KBSI) — Missouri Gov. Mike Kehoe praised the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling Tuesday allowing states to enforce laws restricting transgender athletes from participating in girls’ and women’s sports.
In a statement posted on social media, Kehoe called the decision “common sense” and said it protects fairness, safety and opportunities for women and girls.
“As the parents of three daughters, Claudia and I applaud this ruling that further protects fairness, safety, and opportunity for women and young girls,” Kehoe said.
The ruling allows states, including Missouri, to continue enforcing laws that limit participation in girls’ and women’s sports based on biological sex while legal challenges continue.
