FOX23 News at 9 p.m.
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — The Contractor, Nip Kelley, will begin Phase 1 construction on the new Cape Rock Drive Sidewalk project as soon as July 6, 2026 starting near Kingshighway intersection. Traffic on Cape Rock Drive will remain open in both directions, however half of the westbound lane will be coned off in the block or two where the Contractor is working at any given time. Drivers are urged to slow down in the construction zone and to obey the traffic safety signs for their own safety as well as the safety of the construction workers.
The sidewalk will be constructed on the north side of the road and the work will proceed eastward, with Phase 1 ending at Brookwood Drive. The contract work on Phase 1 is expected to last until late October. Phase 2 of the new sidewalk construction from Brookwood Drive to Perryville Road will begin as soon as possible after completion of Phase 1. The new sidewalk is funded substantially through two reimbursement grants from the MoDOT Transportation Alternatives Program.
A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) will be wrapping up work tonight, Wednesday, July 1 on eastbound Interstate 24 near mile point 19 in Marshall County.
This is east of Exit 16 and will impact eastbound traffic only.
Crews will then move to southbound I-69 near mile point 50, south of Exit 51 in Marshall County, on Thursday, July 2.
Expect overnight lane restrictions and intermittent rolling roadblocks, when slowed or stopped traffic is likely, between 7 p.m. and 4 a.m. nightly.
