Memorial bench dedicated to longtime law enforcement supporter in Cape Girardeau County

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) – Family, friends, members of Seniors and Lawmen Together (SALT) and local law enforcement gathered Thursday morning to dedicate a memorial park bench honoring the late Doug Austin.

According to the Cape Girardeau County Sheriff’s Office, Austin was a longtime supporter of law enforcement and the Cape Girardeau County community through his work with SALT.

Sheriff’s officials said Austin spent years encouraging and supporting local deputies and officers, leaving a lasting impact through his kindness, humor and dedication to serving others.

The memorial bench was dedicated in recognition of Austin’s service and commitment to the community. Officials said the tribute serves as a reminder of his legacy of volunteerism, encouragement and unwavering support for law enforcement.

The sheriff’s office said Austin’s contributions to SALT and the community will continue to be remembered by those who knew him.
