14-year-old racer dies after crash during AMA Flat Track Grand Championship in Du Quoin

DU QUOIN, Ill. (KBSI) — A 14-year-old amateur motorcycle racer has died following an on-track crash during the AMA Flat Track Grand Championship in Du Quoin.
The American Motorcyclist Association announced Monday that Alyssa Kruppenbacker of Crescent City, Florida, died after an incident during the Mile program of the championship.
“Alyssa passed away following an on-track incident during the Mile program of the AMA Flat Track Grand Championship in Du Quoin, Ill.,” the association said in a statement.
The AMA extended its condolences to Kruppenbacker’s family and the flat-track racing community.
No additional details about the crash or the circumstances surrounding the incident have been released.
