Poplar Bluff man charged in Dexter armed robbery investigation

DEXTER, Mo. (KBSI) — A Poplar Bluff man has been charged after a reported armed robbery in Dexter, and additional arrests are expected, police said.
Officers with the Dexter Police Department responded June 29 to the 700 block of North Elm Street after receiving a report of a robbery.
Police said investigators developed probable cause that identified a suspect and later obtained a search warrant for a residence in the 1700 block of Illinois Avenue in Poplar Bluff.
The warrant was executed by the Poplar Bluff Police Department, SEMO Drug Task Force and detectives with the Dexter Police Department. During the search, officers seized evidence and arrested one suspect.
The Stoddard County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged 21-year-old Lamarius A. Shaw-Thomas of Poplar Bluff with:
- First-degree robbery, a Class A felony.
- Stealing a firearm, explosive weapon or ammonium nitrate, a Class D felony.
- Third-degree assault, a Class E felony.
- Armed criminal action, an unclassified felony.
Shaw-Thomas is being held at the Stoddard County Jail without bond.
Police said the investigation remains ongoing and additional arrests are expected.
All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
