CARBONDALE, Ill. (KBSI) — As high temperatures continue across southern Illinois, Ameren Illinois is reminding customers about programs and resources available to help manage energy use and utility bills.
The utility is encouraging customers to visit its online savings and assistance page, which includes energy-saving tips for hot weather, bill payment assistance programs and tools to help customers better manage energy costs.
Ameren Illinois also recently released a video explaining the supply portion of customers’ electric bills, which the company said is intended to help explain how energy supply charges are determined.
“While energy supply costs are determined outside of Ameren Illinois’ control, we remain committed to doing everything we can on the delivery side of our business to maintain a safe, reliable, and resilient energy system for our customers,” the company said in a statement.
Ameren Illinois said prolonged periods of extreme heat can place additional strain on household budgets, and the available programs are designed to help customers reduce energy use and access financial assistance when needed.
Customers can learn more about available programs and resources by visiting Ameren Illinois’ energy savings webpage.
