CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — The Cape Area Community Foundation has awarded a grant to Junior Achievement of Southeast Missouri to support financial literacy, career readiness and entrepreneurship education for students across the region.

The foundation said the grant will help Junior Achievement continue providing more than 60 educational programs to students from prekindergarten through 12th grade in Cape Girardeau, Bollinger and northern Scott counties.

According to the organizations, Junior Achievement offers hands-on lessons, online resources and classroom materials focused on business, economics, entrepreneurship, financial literacy, workforce readiness and character development. The programs are provided to schools at no cost.

Foundation officials said supporting educational opportunities that prepare students for future careers remains a priority and noted the organization has long been an advocate for education throughout the region.

The Cape Area Community Foundation said grants, along with donations from individuals and businesses, help ensure Junior Achievement can continue offering its programs to local students.
