PERRYVILLE, Mo. (KBSI) — Heavy exterior demolition has begun on the former Perryville High School building, marking another step in the Perry County School District 32’s recovery from the 2025 tornado.

District officials said crews started demolition Thursday on the east side of the building facing Pirate Stadium.

The school has been unusable since the tornado struck more than a year ago. District officials said removing the damaged structure will prepare the site for construction of a new high school.

The district’s proposed **Proposition K.I.D.S.**, which will appear on the Aug. 4 ballot, would provide funding for a new Perryville High School. Absentee voting is already underway.

Additional information about the district’s recovery efforts and Proposition K.I.D.S. is available on the Perry County School District 32 website.
