Teen hospitalized after stabbing in Mayfield; investigation ongoing

MAYFIELD, Ky. (KBSI) — A 13-year-old was hospitalized after an alleged stabbing Saturday afternoon in Mayfield, according to police.

The Mayfield Police Department said officers responded around 4:45 p.m. Saturday to Jackson Purchase Medical Center and the Scott Thompson Tennis Courts on Kentucky Highway 121 following reports of a stabbing.

Investigators said a 14-year-old from Mayfield allegedly stabbed a 13-year-old, also from Mayfield, in the stomach during a confrontation.

As of Monday morning, the injured teen remained hospitalized after undergoing surgery.

Police said the investigation is ongoing as detectives continue to collect evidence.

The Mayfield Police Department was assisted by the Kentucky State Police and the Graves County Sheriff’s Office.
