Scott County Sheriff’s Office investigates death near Sikeston

SIKESTON, Mo. (KBSI) — The Scott County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a person was found dead along County Highway 529 near Sikeston early Saturday morning.
According to the sheriff’s office, deputies, EMS and fire personnel responded around 6:24 a.m. to a report of a person lying alongside the roadway.
When emergency crews arrived, they determined the individual was deceased.
The Scott County Sheriff’s Office has activated the Major Case Squad to assist with the investigation. Officials said the investigation remains active, and no additional information has been released.
The Scott County Coroner has taken custody of the body. The person’s identity is being withheld pending the investigation.
Investigators said they have interviewed several people in the area and continue to follow up on leads. The sheriff’s office said additional information will be released as the investigation allows.
