Two charged with murder in Caruthersville shooting

CARUTHERSVILLE, Mo., (KBSI) — Two men face second-degree murder charges in connection with a July 1 shooting that left three people wounded near Wesley’s Quik Mart on Ward Avenue.

The Pemiscot County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office announced the following charges:

Domonique Benson, 38, of Caruthersville: second-degree murder, two counts of first-degree assault, three counts of unlawful use of a weapon, first-degree robbery, tampering with evidence and four counts of armed criminal action.
Chaddric Benson, 40, of Caruthersville: second-degree murder, first-degree robbery, first-degree assault, tampering with evidence and three counts of armed criminal action.
Casundra Anderson, 49, of Caruthersville: first-degree harassment.
D’ariea Carter, 34, of Festus, and Edward Shackelford, 30, of Jonesboro: interference with a first responder.

Prosecutors allege Anderson, Carter and Shackelford interfered while officers provided lifesaving aid to the victims and secured the scene. Additional charges against other people are expected.

Judge William W. Carter issued warrants for all five defendants. They are being held without bond in the Pemiscot County Jail.

The charges are accusations. Each defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
