Man charged after allegedly interfering with shots-fired investigation

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) – A man is accused of repeatedly refusing officers’ orders to move away from an active crime scene while police investigated a report of gunfire Friday night.
According to a probable cause statement, officers responded at about 10:09 p.m. following a ShotSpotter activation. Police initially contacted four juveniles while investigating the reported gunfire.
Police said a crowd gathered around officers and disrupted attempts to interview witnesses. Because officers believed an armed suspect could still be nearby, they ordered bystanders to remain at least 25 feet from the scene.
An officer identified Milton Terron Adkinson as one person who allegedly refused to move, telling police he was standing on the sidewalk. Court records allege Adkinson continued to refuse after receiving several orders.
The probable cause statement does not include the full police report or disclose the outcome of the shots-fired investigation.
The allegations are accusations. Adkinson is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
