CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — Ameren Missouri crews are working to restore power to about 2,700 customers in the Cape Girardeau area following recent storms.
Ameren said crews have restored service to about 20,000 customers across Missouri, including approximately 7,500 customers in Southeast Missouri.
About 600 resources have been deployed across the state to assist with restoration efforts, and Ameren said additional crews are on the way.
Customers can sign up for restoration alerts or check Ameren’s outage map for updates on their service.
Ameren is reminding residents to assume all downed power lines are energized and to stay away from standing water, brush, shrubs and fallen trees that could conceal damaged electrical lines.
Downed power lines should be reported to Ameren Missouri at 800-552-7583.
With extreme heat affecting the region, Ameren is also encouraging customers who remain without electricity to consider using cooling centers while restoration efforts continue.
