Two arrested following months-long methamphetamine investigation in Herrin

HERRIN, Ill., (KBSI) — Two people were arrested after the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant Wednesday following a months-long investigation into suspected methamphetamine distribution.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies executed the warrant around 5:05 p.m. Aug. 12 at a home on Court E in Herrin.

The investigation began in December 2025 after authorities received information that methamphetamine was allegedly being distributed from the residence.

Investigators said they conducted multiple controlled purchases of methamphetamine during the investigation, along with surveillance and other investigative work. Authorities said information gathered during the investigation indicated the suspected drug activity could be connected to a broader distribution network.

Deputies identified those arrested as Kristin M. Patchett and Franklin D. Kirk.

Patchett was arrested on charges of methamphetamine delivery, a Class 2 felony, and possession of drug paraphernalia, a Class A misdemeanor.

Kirk was arrested on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia, a Class A misdemeanor.

Both were taken to the Williamson County Jail pending court proceedings.

Sheriff Jeff Diederich said the investigation remains part of the department’s effort to identify and disrupt methamphetamine distribution networks in the county.
