LemonDrop Foundation receives $20,000 grant to support cancer patients

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — The LemonDrop Foundation has received a $20,000 grant to expand its support for cancer patients and their families.
The funding comes from The Bank of Missouri through a partnership with the Federal Home Loan Bank Member Impact Fund.
The foundation said the money will help provide ChemoPaks to patients undergoing cancer treatment. The care packages include items such as unscented lotion, anti-nausea products, a blanket, journal, socks, cooling towel and comfort rock.
The grant will allow the foundation to increase its annual ChemoPak campaign from 300 packages to 500.
“This is the biggest gift in our six-year history,” LemonDrop Foundation Executive Director Nate Gautier said. “We are so honored and grateful for The Bank of Missouri’s support and the community to help us continue to serve patients.”
A portion of the funding will also provide financial assistance to cancer patients and their families facing unexpected expenses associated with treatment.
The LemonDrop Foundation said the expanded programs are intended to help ease some of the financial, physical and emotional challenges patients face during cancer treatment.
