PADUCAH, Ky., (KBSI) — The City of Paducah will celebrate the installation of a new playground at Kolb Park with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Friday, Sept. 4.

The ceremony will begin at 2 p.m. at the park, located at 1650 S. Sixth St. in Paducah’s Southside.

Paducah Parks & Recreation began replacing the park’s playground in late July. The previous playground had been in place since 2005.

The new playground, designed for children ages 2 to 12, will feature two large play structures, slides, swings, a climbing arch and a spinner that can accommodate up to 10 children. The swing area will include toddler seats with safety belts and inclusive seats with higher backs for additional support.

Miracle Recreation is installing the equipment along with a certified wood safety surface. City officials said the improvements are designed to increase accessibility and safety.

Construction is expected to be completed before the ribbon-cutting ceremony. Kolb Park will remain open while work continues, but visitors are asked to use caution around crews and equipment.

The project is being funded through the Community Development Block Grant program.
