Major Brendon Robertson brings nearly 30 years of experience to new role

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) – The Salvation Army of Cape Girardeau has welcomed a new leader with nearly 30 years of experience with the organization.

Maj. Brendon Robertson began serving as the Corps Community Center administrator July 1. In the role, Robertson oversees the Salvation Army’s mission and ministry efforts in Cape Girardeau and works with its Service Extension team to serve surrounding southeast Missouri communities.

Robertson replaces Capts. Stephen and Lily Reinier, who had served as corps administrators in Cape Girardeau since 2021. The Reiniers have been assigned as corps officers in Ottawa, Illinois.

Born in Victoria and raised in Western Australia, Robertson was commissioned as a Salvation Army officer in November 1998. He spent more than 10 years as a corps officer and divisional youth consultant and also worked with people experiencing substance abuse through rehabilitation programs in Australia.

Robertson came to the United States in 2013 as an administrator in training. Over the past decade, he has served at Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Centers in Indiana, Iowa and Wisconsin.

“It has been a joy to serve our Adult Rehabilitation Centers and see the positive impact that builds from household donations,” Robertson said. “I look forward to this opportunity to serve as a corps officer and get to know the Cape Girardeau community.”

Robertson will serve at the Salvation Army Corps Community Center at 701 Good Hope St.

The Salvation Army said officers are periodically appointed to new positions based on factors including community needs, skills, length of service and family considerations.
