LYON COUNTY, Ky., (KBSI) — UPDATE: Interstate 24 eastbound in Lyon County has reopened near mile marker 38 and 39, and the detour has been lifted.

Interstate 24 eastbound traffic is being detoured in Lyon County following a second crash Monday, according to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.

The latest crash happened near mile marker 38. All eastbound traffic is being detoured at Exit 31 in Grand Rivers.

Drivers should follow Kentucky 453 and U.S. 62 before returning to I-24 eastbound at Exit 40 at Eddyville-Kuttawa.

The crash comes as crews continue cleanup from an earlier crash involving an overturned livestock vehicle near mile marker 39, just before Exit 40.

The earlier crash blocked the right eastbound lane and was expected to take approximately six hours to clear.

Drivers are urged to use caution in the area.
