Jackson gravel roads improvement project begins Tuesday

JACKSON, Mo., (KBSI) — The City of Jackson’s Gravel Roads Improvement Program is scheduled to begin Tuesday, Aug. 25, with several streets set to receive asphalt overlays.

The city’s contractor, Black Diamond Paving LLC, doing business as Paving Pros, is expected to begin work Tuesday.

Streets included in the project are Old Cape Road Circle, Lilly Avenue, East Washington Street from Lilly Avenue to North Bellevue Street, North Neal Street from East Main Street to the dead end, the 500 block of North Neal Street, Walnut Street north of Greensferry Road and Forest Street from Olive Street to the dead end.

Drivers and pedestrians are urged to use caution around active work zones. The city said temporary traffic disruptions are expected and encouraged drivers to use alternate routes when possible, reduce their speed and allow additional travel time.

Residents can view project locations through the city’s new interactive GIS Current Projects Map, which includes information about current and upcoming projects.

The work is part of Jackson’s ongoing efforts to improve local infrastructure and roadway conditions.
