Perryville physician follows in father’s footsteps at Mercy

PERRYVILLE, Mo., (KBSI) — A Perryville native has returned home to practice medicine alongside the physician who inspired her career — her father.
Dr. Faith Grove began seeing patients Aug. 24 at Mercy Primary Care in Perryville, nearly 36 years after her father, Dr. David Kapp, began practicing with Mercy Perry on Aug. 13, 1990.
Grove, who was born and raised in Perryville, provides family medicine services ranging from preventive care and health screenings to treatment of common illnesses and management of chronic conditions.
“Working in a small town allows me to build relationships with patients and their families from newborn to end-of-life care,” Grove said. “I love serving the community in any way I can — women’s health, pediatrics, nursing home and everything in between.”
Grove said she did not seriously consider returning to Perryville to practice until her residency training.
She said the opportunity to work alongside her father was an important part of returning home.
“It’s not every day you get to learn from an experienced physician who has been practicing for over 30 years,” Grove said. “There is something really special about getting to work with my dad, whose selflessness and sacrifice to his patients inspired me to go into the field in the first place.”
Grove earned her bachelor’s degree and medical degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine. She later completed a three-year family medicine residency at the University of Illinois College of Medicine Rockford.
Grove said returning to Perry County gives her an opportunity to serve the community where she grew up.
“It’s an honor to come back and serve Perry County,” Grove said. “There is something special about getting to serve a community that helped raise you into the person you are.”
