WASHINGTON (KBSI) — President Donald Trump announced Tuesday that American flags will be lowered in honor of country music legend Dolly Parton following her death at age 80.

Trump announced the move in a post on Truth Social, calling Parton’s death a “true loss for millions of people.”

“There has never been anyone like her, and never will,” Trump wrote.

Trump said American flags across the United States will be lowered for one week beginning at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

“Rest in Peace, Dolly! The World loves you,” Trump wrote.

Parton, one of the most influential figures in country music, was known for a decadeslong career that extended beyond music into film, business and philanthropy.
