Zeigler Fire Department plans controlled training burn near Highway 149

ZEIGLER, Ill., (KBSI) — The City of Zeigler Fire Department is advising residents and drivers of a planned controlled burn Wednesday evening.

The fire department said crews will conduct the burn in an alley along South Pine Street near Illinois Route 149 between 6:30 and 8 p.m.

Crews will burn natural vegetation, including limbs and wood, as part of the training exercise.

Officials said smoke from the burn could cause periods of reduced visibility in the area.

Route 149 will remain open to traffic during the burn, but drivers are urged to use caution while traveling through the area.
