City of Jackson lowers flags to half-staff in honor of Dolly Parton

JACKSON, Mo., (KBSI) — The City of Jackson has lowered flags at city facilities to half-staff in honor of country music legend Dolly Parton, who died at age 80.

The city said Wednesday that it lowered its flags in accordance with an order directing American flags nationwide to be flown at half-staff for one week.

The American flag outside Jackson City Hall is among those lowered in Parton’s honor.

City officials remembered Parton for her decadeslong music career, philanthropy and commitment to helping others.

“Dolly’s extraordinary music, generosity, and lifelong commitment to helping others touched millions of lives,” the city said. “Her remarkable legacy will continue to inspire generations to come.”

Parton was also remembered by the city for the music and memories she leaves behind.
