Poplar Bluff Chamber warns members of email scam

POPLAR BLUFF, Mo., (KBSI) — The Poplar Bluff Chamber is warning its members about fraudulent emails claiming to offer a contact list.

The chamber said Wednesday it has received reports that members are receiving the emails from multiple Gmail accounts.

Officials said legitimate correspondence from the Poplar Bluff Chamber will come directly from a staff member using a chamber email address or through Jumbl, the chamber’s new communication platform.

The chamber is urging recipients not to respond to the suspicious emails or click any links included in the messages.

Anyone who receives an email and is unsure whether it is legitimate should verify the sender before interacting with the message.

The chamber said a local technology company has already been able to block several of the reported emails from reaching customers’ inboxes.
