Du Quoin State Fair announces prohibited items for Grandstand

DU QUOIN, Ill., (KBSI) — Fairgoers heading to the Du Quoin State Fair are being reminded to leave several items at home before entering the Grandstand.

Fair officials said prohibited items will be confiscated if they are found during entry. The list includes firearms, knives and other weapons; mace, pepper spray and stun guns; illegal substances; glass containers; outside drink containers; wagons; umbrellas; selfie sticks; drones; laser pointers; coolers; and signs or flags on poles.

Professional-style cameras, tripods and audio or video recording equipment also are prohibited, although personal phones and cameras are allowed.

Fireworks, flammable materials, clothing or apparel intended to conceal a person’s identity, and other items that could cause harm or disrupt an event also are prohibited.

Officials said the restrictions are intended to help protect performers and fairgoers.
