CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — The Cape Girardeau Public Library is no longer charging overdue fines as part of an effort to make its resources more accessible.
The fine-free policy took effect Sept. 1. Library employees will begin manually removing existing overdue fines from patrons’ accounts.
Patrons can confirm that their balances have been cleared by calling 573-334-5279 or visiting the library’s User Services desk.
Fees for lost or damaged materials will still apply.
