FRANKFORT, Ky., (KBSI) — President Donald Trump announced Tuesday that his administration has approved $9.1 million to assist Kentucky communities recovering from severe storms, strong winds, flooding, landslides and mudslides.

Trump said in a social media post that he informed U.S. Rep. Andy Barr of the funding approval. The announcement did not specify how the money would be distributed.

Barr thanked Trump, the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the administration for supporting the recovery effort.

“Kentuckians are resilient and working to recover from severe weather impacting several of our communities,” Barr said.

Trump also used the announcement to reiterate his endorsement of Barr in Kentucky’s U.S. Senate race.
