Crews battle fire at downtown Du Quoin lumber company

DU QUOIN, Ill., (KBSI) — An ongoing fire at a downtown Du Quoin lumber company has spread to nearby buildings and is damaging multiple businesses.

Fire departments and other emergency agencies from across the region have been requested to assist near Chestnut Street. The original structure was reported to be fully engulfed in flames.

The public is asked to avoid downtown Du Quoin until further notice as crews continue working to contain the fire.
