Tennessee man dies after motorcycle crash in Franklin County

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ill., (KBSI) — A 68-year-old Tennessee man died following a motorcycle crash Wednesday afternoon in rural Franklin County.
The Franklin County Office of Emergency Management and Communications received a 911 call around 4:53 p.m. reporting an injured motorcyclist along Yellow Banks Road, according to Franklin County Sheriff Kyle Bacon.
Investigators determined the motorcycle was traveling west when the driver lost control and ran off the south side of the road.
First responders found the driver with serious injuries. He was placed aboard an Air Evac Lifeteam helicopter for transport to a trauma center, but the helicopter diverted to Franklin Hospital because of the severity of his injuries.
The driver, who was from Crossville, Tennessee, was pronounced dead at the hospital. His identity was not released.
The Benton Fire Department, AMR Ambulance and Air Evac Lifeteam assisted at the scene.
The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office and Franklin County coroner’s office are investigating the crash.
