Police investigate threat involving Mayfield Elementary student

MAYFIELD, Ky. — Police are investigating a threat reportedly made by a Mayfield Elementary School student, according to Mayfield Independent Schools.

The Mayfield Police Department learned of the threat Thursday evening, Sept. 3, and notified district administrators, Superintendent Billy Edwards said in a statement.

District officials said they were not aware of any ongoing threat at the time of the statement. No details about the nature of the threat were released.

Edwards urged anyone who notices suspicious activity to report it to school officials or local law enforcement.
