Ready to respond: Jackson firefighters sharpen emergency skills

JACKSON, Mo., (KBSI) — Jackson Fire Rescue crews recently participated in a training exercise focused on operating a single-engine gated-wye system using a 2½-inch supply line.

During the drill, firefighters practiced using a gated wye to divide the main supply line into two independently controlled discharge lines. The equipment allows crews to direct water to multiple hose lines from a single engine while controlling the flow to each line separately.

Training exercises like this help firefighters strengthen their understanding of water supply operations, equipment placement and hose-line management. They also allow crews to practice communicating and working together in a controlled environment before responding to an emergency.

Jackson Fire Rescue regularly conducts hands-on training to help ensure its firefighters are prepared to operate equipment safely and efficiently during fires and other emergency situations.
