Traffic changes announced for SEMO District Fair and parade

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — The Cape Girardeau Police Department has announced temporary parking restrictions and road closures for the 2026 SEMO District Fair and parade.
“No Parking” signs will be placed around Arena Park on Friday, Sept. 11. Restrictions will be enforced beginning at 6 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 12.
Vehicles parked in marked no parking or restricted areas may be towed at the owner’s expense, and drivers could receive a traffic citation.
Additional signs will be placed Friday in Capaha Park and along North West End Boulevard and Perry Avenue for the SEMO District Fair Parade, which begins at 9:30 a.m. Saturday.
Capaha Park will close at 5 a.m. Only vehicles being used in the parade will be allowed inside.
People dropping off parade participants should use the park entrance at West End Boulevard and Normal Avenue. Police said participants should not be dropped off at the Broadway entrance.
Parade entries must enter Capaha Park from Broadway and Perry Avenue. Southbound traffic will not be allowed at Perry Avenue and Dunklin Street. Drivers who go around barricades could receive a citation.
West End Boulevard will close between Broadway and Parkview streets at 7 a.m. to allow parade participants to line up.
The following roads will also close during the parade:
- Broadway west of West End Boulevard
- Kingshighway between Broadway and Cape Rock Drive
- Kingshighway between Hopper Road and Kiwanis Drive
Parking at Cape Girardeau Police Headquarters, 2530 Maria Louise Lane, and Municipal Court, 2536 Maria Louise Lane, will be restricted to official police or court business from Sept. 12-19.
Unauthorized vehicles may be towed at the owner’s expense, and drivers could receive a traffic citation.
