Firefighters contain Zeigler garage fire before it reaches home

ZEIGLER, Ill., (KBSI) — Firefighters contained a garage fire in Zeigler before it could spread to a nearby home.

The Zeigler Fire Department responded to Beaumont Street after receiving a report of a detached garage on fire and threatening a residence.

Firefighters entered the garage and contained the flames to the structure. The department said the nearby home was not damaged.

Fire crews from Royalton, Herrin and West Frankfort assisted at the scene, along with police from Zeigler and Royalton.
