Driver flown to Nashville hospital after Lyon County crash

EDDYVILLE, Ky., (KBSI) — A Colorado woman was flown to a Nashville-area hospital with life-threatening injuries after a single-vehicle crash in Lyon County.
Authorities received a 911 call about the crash on U.S. 641, about 4.5 miles north of Eddyville, around 8:52 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16.
Lyon County sheriff’s deputies found an overturned and heavily damaged vehicle with no one inside. A search of a nearby cornfield led responders to the driver, who had been ejected and was unresponsive.
Investigators said Ashley M. Meads-Lemon, 38, of Greeley, Colorado, was driving a 2007 Jeep Commander south on U.S. 641 when she failed to negotiate a curve near Coleman-Doles Road.
The Jeep left the road, struck a mailbox and continued off the roadway before hitting a concrete culvert headwall and overturning, according to preliminary findings.
Air Evac flew Meads-Lemon to a Nashville-area hospital. Investigators believe speed and alcohol contributed to the crash.
U.S. 641 was closed for about 90 minutes as emergency crews treated the driver, investigated the crash and removed the vehicle.
The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation. Kentucky State Police, Lyon County EMS, the Eddyville Fire Department and Air Evac assisted at the scene.
