Paducah celebrates completion of $13.9 million riverfront project

PADUCAH, Ky., (KBSI) — The city of Paducah will celebrate the completion of its Riverfront Infrastructure Improvement Project with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and community event Friday.
The celebration will run from 4 to 9 p.m. along the riverfront. Activities will include live music, food trucks, family activities, riverfront tours and an outdoor movie.
The opening ceremony and ribbon cutting will begin at 4 p.m. at the floodwall opening between Broadway and Jefferson Street.
Daniel Neihoff will perform from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Wilson Stage. Golf cart tours of the riverfront will be offered from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Barrel train rides previously planned for the event have been canceled.
Mobile food vendors will be available near the transient dock from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. River Dust Duo will perform from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Riverfront Park.
The event will conclude with an outdoor showing of Disney’s “Finding Dory” at 7:15 p.m. near the transient dock.
The riverfront project was funded primarily through a $10.4 million federal BUILD grant from the U.S. Maritime Administration. The state provided an additional $3.5 million.
