John A. Logan College plans Dolly Parton Day celebration

CARTERVILLE, Ill., (KBSI) — John A. Logan College will celebrate the life and legacy of country music icon Dolly Parton with a campus event Friday, Sept. 25.

Dolly Parton Day will be held from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the college’s E-Wing Lounge and Room E130. The celebration comes one month after Parton died Aug. 25 at age 80.

Activities will include a “Cup of Ambition” coffee hour, rhinestone contest, quote quilt, butterfly decorating and a “Coat of Many Colors” coat drive.

Food will be available from The Potato Plug and Pelzer’s Tropical Sno.

Representatives from Read SI will also share information about Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. Donations will benefit the local chapter, with all money raised remaining in the community.

The event is free and open to students, employees and community members.
