Interim chief named for Scott County Rural Fire Protection District

SCOTT COUNTY, Mo., (KBSI) — Jerence Dial has been named interim fire chief of the Scott County Rural Fire Protection District.
Dial has worked in fire and emergency services for 20 years, including 13 years with the district. His experience includes fire suppression, emergency medical response, technical rescue, leadership and emergency operations.
He is certified in several specialized areas, including hazardous materials response, heavy vehicle rescue, swift-water rescue, trench and structural collapse rescue and high- and low-angle rope rescue. Dial is also a certified fire instructor and emergency medical responder and is completing fire investigator training.
In addition to his work with the district, Dial serves as a sergeant and frontline supervisor with the Sikeston Department of Public Safety.
Dial is also a member of the Homeland Security Response Team, which includes personnel from Sikeston DPS, the Cape Girardeau Fire Department, Jackson Fire Rescue and Stoddard County EMS. The regional team responds to technical rescues, natural disasters and other complex emergencies across southeast Missouri.
Dial said his priorities include expanding firefighter training, maintaining necessary equipment and resources and strengthening partnerships with neighboring emergency response agencies.
He also pledged to support district firefighters while maintaining accountability and ensuring crews are prepared to respond safely to emergencies throughout the community.
