Mount Vernon man arrested in Jefferson County burglary investigation

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ill., (KBSI) — A Mount Vernon man faces burglary, trespassing and drug possession charges following an investigation in Jefferson County.

Deputies responded around 7 p.m. Sept. 21 to a report of a trespasser at a home in the 12600 block of Illinois Route 148.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said deputies arrested 38-year-old Tyson A. Carlos on preliminary charges of trespassing and possession of methamphetamine.

Detectives also responded because of an ongoing burglary investigation at the same property that began Sept. 8. Authorities said further investigation resulted in an additional burglary charge against Carlos.

Carlos was taken to the Jefferson County Jail to await a pretrial detention hearing.

All defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
