TENNESSEE, (KBSI) — The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) will conduct a traffic shift on State Route 52 in Sumner County.

Starting Thursday, September 24, State Route (SR) 52 will experience a traffic shift, or slight relocation of travel lanes, east of Lyon Drive to near Searcy Lane for the remaining construction of a box culvert to be placed underneath SR 52. As part of the traffic shift, the posted speed limit in this area (approximately one mile) will be reduced from 40 mph to 30 mph to enhance safety through the work zone.

The traffic shift and reduced speed limit are anticipated to remain in place for approximately three months. Signage will be in place. Motorists are urged to use caution as they navigate the shift.

This work is part of TDOT’s SR 109 Phase 1 Portland Bypass project, which began construction in August 2025. This project includes constructing a new segment of State Route 109, bypassing the City of Portland, as part of a larger effort to improve safety and mobility along the heavily traveled SR 109 corridor.

Westbound Route 60 in Shannon County will be reduced to one lane with a 12-foot width restriction as Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform pavement repairs.

This section of roadway is located from Route E to Route FF in Birch Tree, Missouri.

Weather permitting, work will take place Monday, Sept. 28 and Tuesday, Sept. 29 from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
