Paducah man charged after allegedly arranging sexual encounter with someone he believed was a child

PADUCAH, Ky., (KBSI) — A Paducah man was arrested Sunday after police said he admitted exchanging sexually explicit messages and arranging a sexual encounter with someone he believed was a 13-year-old boy.
Andrew Rodgers, 36, faces charges of procuring or promoting the use of a minor by electronic means and first-offense distribution of obscene matter to minors.
Officers responded Sept. 27 to a business in the 3500 block of James Sanders Boulevard for a public assistance call. They spoke with a person who had been communicating with Rodgers and reported being affiliated with a group that identifies people attempting to arrange sexual encounters with children online, police said.
Rodgers told officers he had exchanged text messages with someone he believed was a 13-year-old boy, sent sexually explicit photographs of himself and arranged to meet for a sexual act, according to police.
Detectives responded to continue the investigation. Rodgers was arrested without incident and taken to the McCracken County Regional Jail.
