CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., (KBSI) — The Zonta Club of Cape Girardeau will host its Men of Courage Breakfast at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27, at the Elks Lodge to encourage men and community leaders to help prevent sexual violence.
The featured speaker will be Don McPherson, an author, educator and former NFL and Canadian Football League quarterback. A College Football Hall of Fame member, McPherson has spent decades advocating for the prevention of sexual and domestic violence.
McPherson wrote “You Throw Like a Girl: The Blind Spot of Masculinity” and works with schools, colleges, athletic organizations and communities to address harmful gender norms and promote positive leadership.
“Men have an important role to play in creating a community where women and girls are respected, valued, and safe,” said John Gary, committee co-chair. “Men of Courage is about bringing men together as allies and encouraging meaningful action, not simply conversation.”
Tickets cost $20 per person or $200 per table. The club also is seeking sponsorships from businesses and community organizations.
Tickets, sponsorship information and additional details are available under the Advocacy section at capezonta.org.
