ADVANCE, Mo., (KBSI) — One person suffered burns in a house fire Thursday afternoon, and firefighters returned to the same property late that night, according to the Advance Fire Department and Bell City Fire Rescue.
Advance firefighters were dispatched around 1:30 p.m. to a reported structure fire involving a burn victim. While crews were en route, additional personnel and tanker support were requested from Bloomfield, Bell City and Zalma.
The first arriving fire officer found a single-story, single-family home about 50% involved in fire. The officer also located a person with burns, who was placed in the care of Stoddard County EMS. The severity of the person’s injuries was not provided.
Advance crews began fighting the flames from outside before moving to an offensive operation. Bloomfield and Bell City firefighters assisted with firefighting and water supply operations. Zalma provided tanker support.
The Stoddard County Sheriff’s Office directed traffic, and SEMO Electric also assisted. No firefighter injuries were reported.
Around 11:53 p.m., Bell City crews were dispatched to another reported structure fire at the same location. Firefighters from Advance and Bell City brought the fire under control and extinguished it.
The departments did not provide an exact address or a cause for either fire. The reports did not indicate whether the second fire was a rekindling of the earlier blaze.
