POPLAR BLUFF, Mo., (KBSI) — Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center’s Leaves of Hope Bereavement Program will host a Celebration of Life and Remembrance Ceremony at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 8 for families affected by pregnancy and infant loss.
The event will take place in the hospital’s cafeteria classroom and include a lantern release and refreshments. Families who have experienced a loss and community members are invited to attend.
Established in 2023, Leaves of Hope provides emotional and psychological support, personalized keepsakes and connections to resources for families who lose a baby during pregnancy or infancy.
“Pregnancy and infant loss can feel incredibly isolating, but families should never have to carry that grief alone,” said Taylor Huston, a registered nurse and the program’s director.
Keepsakes may include handprint and footprint castings, memory boxes and Mamie’s Poppy Plates, which honor each baby’s memory. The program also connects families with ongoing support and community resources.
Leaves of Hope is funded entirely through donations. The ceremony coincides with Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month.
